چکیده

* Corresponding author Abstract – Land degradation processes in the subtropical Thicket Biome in the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa, are observed and monitored. As a result, a significant loss of soil quality on such sites has been recorded. This study focuses on the determination of fundamental soil parameters like organic carbon, iron, and clay in order to assess ecosystem degradation. The test site in South Africa is surveyed for ground truth and hyperspectral image data are obtained. We take advantage of spectral mixture analysis to approximate the ‘pure’ soil signal from mixing pixel signatures. For a subsequent quantification of soil parameters, spectral feature analysis is linked with multiple linear regression techniques. For organic carbon and iron, calibrations of high accuracy are used for the prediction of image data. The results highly correlate with measured contents. In contrast, the quantification of clay content is still problematic mostly due to the existence of soil structural crusts.

High efficient degradation of Cefixime using UV/TiO2 photocatalytic process: A comparison between photocatalytic and photolytic

Introduction: The existence of pharmaceuticals in aquatic ecosystem, their persistence and possible effects on living organisms and inefficient systems in removal of these compounds from water and wastewater are a growing concern. In this research, the UV/TiO2 photocatalytic degradation of Cefixime was investigated so as to identify if this method was efficient for removal of Cefixime or not. ...

Using mixture analysis for soil information extraction from an AVIRIS scene at the Walnut Gulch

Spectral Mixture Analysis (SMA) has been used to extract qualitative and quantitative information about common features in an imagery at the subpixel level. At the Walnut Gulch Experimental Watershed (Arizona) this technique was used to produce the soil spectral map and quantify the fractions of each soil endmember on an AVIRIS image. SMA was applied on the base of image and reference endmember...

وضعیت و مدل‌سازی روی در دانه گندم در رابطه با ویژگی‌های اکوسیستم کشاورزی در برخی مناطق خشک و نیمه‌خشک

Zinc (Zn) is an essential trace element for plants as well as for animals and humans. There is a significant relationship between soils, plants and humans Zn status in a certain agro-ecosystem. The objectives of this study were to assess Zn status of soils in 3 arid and semiarid provinces of Iran and to model the relationship between wheat grain Zn and agro-ecosystem parameters. About 137 soil ...

Investigating the Trend of Desertification Changes in Different Land Uses of Gavkhoni Basin Using Change Vector Analysis Method

Introduction: Desertification refers to the decreased biological potentials in the ecosystem of hyper-arid, arid, semi-arid, and humid semi-arid regions because of climate change and human activities. The phenomenon occurs due to a combination of direct and indirect factors whose intensity varies according to time and place, making the scientific, replicable, and systematic evaluation of desert...

Objective indicators of pasture degradation from spectral mixture analysis of Landsat imagery

[1] Degradation of cattle pastures is a management concern that influences future land use in Amazonia. However, ‘‘degradation’’ is poorly defined and has different meanings for ranchers, ecologists, and policy makers. Here we analyze pasture degradation using objective scalars of photosynthetic vegetation (PV), nonphotosynthetic vegetation (NPV), and exposed soil (S) derived from Landsat image...
